Famous boxer's home goes up in flames

A fire broke out at a famous boxer's former home near Arizona Avenue and Pecos early Friday morning.

According to Chandler Fire Department, famed boxer Zora Folley still owns the property. He lived at the home when he moved to Chandler.

Folley was a well-known boxer in the 1960s and even fought Muhammad Ali. He died in July 1972.

The man who currently lives at the home is Folley's son, Zora Folley Jr.

"When I look at the house, I think about the times we were growing up here, the good times we had, everybody at the park playing, having a good time. To see it in this situation here now is kinda bad," said Folley Jr.

He was able to get out of the home safely and call 911.

Fire crews say the flames started in a back bedroom and quickly spread into the attic.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire before it spread to other homes.
