Flagstaff firefighters honor young hero who helped save family

The Flagstaff Fire Department honored a young hero who saved himself, his two grandparents and their two dogs after they all fell through thin ice!

10-year-old Jaden Shepherd was somehow able to roll himself out of the frigid water and help his grandfather. They then worked together to get grandma and the two dogs out.

Today, firefighters presented him with an award and then he got a tour of a fire truck and the fire station.

"[We're] really proud of the fire department and the whole Flagstaff community," said David Endelman, who was saved by his grandson. "But our grandson was the hero of the day for sure."

The entire experience today was a complete surprise to Jaden, who clearly loved the experience and wore a huge smile on his face all day.
