Gov. Ducey names Frank Milstead to head up DPS

Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead issued a memo to his officers Tuesday stating he had accepted an offer from Gov. Doug Ducey to head up the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Milstead has worked with the City of Mesa Police Department for the past five years overseeing a department of over 1,250 employees. He previously worked for the City of Phoenix Police Department.

"I am honored Governor Ducey has appointed me to lead the Department of Public Safety and oversee its critical mission," said Chief Milstead. "I am committed to ensuring our department serves the people of Arizona with honor and integrity, and I will work tirelessly to make our state a safer place for all."

Milstead replaces Director Robert Halliday who had been with DPS since 1973.
