High-tech drug machine may prevent burglaries at Phoenix pharmacy

A locally-owned pharmacy in Phoenix was hit by burglars and this was the second time thieves have targeted the business in the past six months.

The owner of Melrose Pharmacy at 7th Avenue and Montecito says she got a call from her alarm company early in the morning on April 30 about a break-in.

Teresa Stickler says the thieves got away with some Oxycodone.

She says it's strange the crime happened the night before the pharmacy received a new high-tech machine that not only fills prescriptions, but that's also essentially burglar-proof.

"It's absolutely crazy that this happened the night before we get the machine because we've ordered this machine for about two months now," Stickler said.

"It's supposed to be very pretty much impossible to break into. And once if they did break into it, all the drugs are in different areas. So there's no rhyme to reason for where it's at. So there's no way they're going to be able to find anything quickly."

Stickler says the burglary suspects who targeted the pharmacy six months ago have been arrested.
