Whole Foods pulls pre-peeled oranges after social media backlash

It appears that oranges aren't just a great source of vitamin C but also controversy.

After Twitter user Nathalie Gordon posted a photo of pre-peeled oranges for sale at a California Whole Foods store, many took to social media to ridicule the company.

They pointed out that placing the fruit in bulky, individual plastic containers - and selling them for $5.99 a pound - is hardly efficient or eco-friendly.

Whole Foods tweeted an apology on Thursday, saying the product has been pulled from the shelves and they will sell the fruit in its "natural packaging." But it seems that Whole Foods just can’t win, as many others later complained that the pre-peeled oranges are helpful for customers who struggle with conditions such as arthritis.
