Hundreds of cyclists turn out for annual Ride 2 Recovery fundraising bike ride

The weather outside was perfect for a bike ride today. And this morning, hundreds of cyclists hit the streets of Phoenix to help honor our nation's healing veterans.

"Three, two, one...Have a great ride everybody, see you out there!"

The second annual "Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride Phoenix" took place this morning, starting at 48th Street and Broadway.

The nearly 400 riders all raised money to help buy bicycles that will help injured veterans overcome obstacles they may face, and to help build programs to encourage veterans to get active and involved with other cyclists.

"Getting out together, on a bike, you have freedom, you focus, you're riding fast, and it's really an opportunity to build community, and to feel free to express yourself on a bike," said Linda Glassel, the Honor Ride National Director.

There were three different routes of different lengths for today's ride. And there are about 15 rides a year, all across the country.
