Jodi Arias sentencing retrial: witnesses testify for the prosecution

Jodi Arias was already found guilty of first degree murder for killing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

The sentencing retrial is about whether she gets life in prison or the death penalty.

Court was in session for 1/2 the day Wednesday and there were some witnesses called for the prosecution.

Prosecutors called a former girlfriend of Travis Alexander who he dated before he met Jodi Arias. She told prosecutors travis never mistreated her or physically abused her.

Jodi's lawyers introduced the statement of an unnamed witness who said Travis roughed up Deanna and said "Get it through your bleeping head I am not going to marry you."

Deanna Reid faced off against Arias attorney Jennifer Wilmott. Wilmott trying to discredit Deanna, a devout mormon, by delving into her sex life. The Arias attorney asking her if Travis had had sex with any other woman besides Arias. Reid answered no, but under further questioning Reid revealed that although she was unaware of Travis having sex with other women, it turned out he had had sex with her. This is a violation of the Mormon law of chastity before marriage.

The defense making the arument if Reid was evasive about having sex with Travis, maybe she wasn't being truthful claiming he had never been abusive.

Bishop Vernon Parker also testified for prosecutors. He said Travis Alexander did not put porn of any kind, including child pornography, on his family's computer as an unnamed witness for the defense had claimed.

The jury offered to come in Thursday for more testimony, but the judge said because of the Super Bowl it's too crowded downtown and hard to get around.

The trial resumes on Monday.
