Litchfield Park woman tries to run down man; angry over dog fight 8 months ago

A 75-year-old woman is behind bars, accused of trying to run over her neighbor. Deputies say Theresa Jean Depiero told investigators she "had enough" after her dog got into a fight with her neighbor's dog.

The fight happened either months ago, and she was still angry over the incident. She also told deputies she was only trying to scare him.

At her first court hearing, 75-year-old Theresa Depiero told a judge she wasn't trying to kill her neighbor.

"I was only trying to scare him," said Theresa Depiero.

She's accused of trying to run her neighbor over as he was walking his dogs around his Litchfield Park neighborhood on Monday.

"She came to a halt really fast, screeched her tires, turned around and went back after the guy. I can't go with anything, but the accusations that have been formally made," said a witness who called 911.

Deputies say Depiero drove her Black Lincoln Navigator towards the neighbor three times.

She told authorities that she was still upset about a dog fight that happened eight months ago when her dog was injured and needed stitches. She also claims the neighbor hit her during that dog fight.

"I just said are you sure this is the right thing to do, because there's kids in the neighborhood, and you could hurt someone," said the witness.

"This man threatened to kill me, and he knocked me out, and I got a concussion, and here is where we are with that. I don't have a charge against that person. I know because he said he was going to kill me. I can't go with anything, but the accusations that have been formally made. I didn't get within 10 feet of this guy," said Depiero during her appearance in front of a judge.

Depiero has been booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on charges of aggravated assault.
