Man accused of trying to arrange sex with teen in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say an Army reservist is in custody for allegedly going to a Glendale hotel to meet what he thought was a teenager for sex.
Glendale police say 34-year-old Jeff Howard Buffington also is accused of child abuse for leaving a toddler alone at home.
Police say Buffington was arrested Friday after he responded to an online ad.
Buffington allegedly agreed to 30 minutes of sex for $160 with the 16-year-old girl, who actually was an undercover detective posing as a prostitute.
He was greeted at the hotel near 99th Avenue and Camelback Road by the undercover officer, who was posing as the girl's mother.
Police say the arrest took place after Buffington handed cash and condoms to the officer.
Buffington was released on his own recognizance after Monday's initial court appearance. He doesn't have a lawyer yet.
