This happened near 69th Avenue and Glendale on Monday.
The Pit bull jumped over a fence into a neighbor's yard in attack mode. The same dog had jumped the fence in the same manner last fall, but this time, the attack turned deadly.
The Pit bull, named Blue, sat quietly at Animal Care and Control, but on Monday, he was in a murderous mood, jumping a backyard fence and attacking a 2-year-old Chihuahua named Nikki.
"The dog just snatches her and starts shaking her, you know what I mean, flinging her all over in his mouth.. it was really bad," said Mieka Bowden.
Bowden's boyfriend jumped in to save little Nikki and Blue attacked him too, doing so much damage to his shoulder he needed surgery.
"It is the worst thing I have ever seen in my life.. never saw that much blood with my own eyes.. everywhere I was slipping on it, trying to get it clean.. it was awful," said Bowden.
Glendale Police captured Blue and he is now in a 10-day quarantine.
Looks like it's the end of the line.
"Unfortunately, this is not the first time we've been called out for this particular dog. He has jumped the fence a couple times and gone into the same neighbor's yard and since he has seriously injured someone, the owner does not want the dog back and chances are he will be euthanized. It is not a safe dog we can put out into the community," said Melissa Gable of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.
Blue's owners were not at home when we stopped by on Tuesday. They have been cited by MCACC.
MCACC says if you have an aggressive dog, you should make sure it cannot jump over a fence and threaten other dogs or people.
