Man down on luck gets help from Discount Tire manager

Life has not been easy for John Fammer since his wife Margaret died of a heart attack three years ago. He's had to raise his daughter Elisabeth all alone.

"I had to become a single dad all on my own overnight, and it's been a struggle," said John Fammer.

He was planning to move to California to be with family in a Volkswagen Beetle his mom gave him, but last week that plan hit a roadblock.

"Friday, I got a flat tire, and I didn't know what to do. I don't have $60 bucks," said Fammer.

He went to the nearest Discount Tire at 72nd Avenue and Indian School where an assistant manager did something he never expected.

"He fixed it for free, completely out of his pocket, he took the money completely out of his pocket," he said.

"I was in tears, I didn't know what to say... that's the nicest thing that anybody has done for me, that's a complete stranger. Ever," said Fammer.

The man who did that good deed wants to stay anonymous, but John is going to repay him the only way he can.

"In here are some games, books, action figures," Fammer plans to give the man his lifelong collection of Star Wars Memorabilia.

"The stuff that I've collected holds no value to anybody. It's priceless items that i've held onto and I want to give it to him for a priceless act," said Fammer.
