Man kills self after barricade situation in Scottsdale home

Scottsdale police say a suspect shot and killed himself during a SWAT standoff situation on Sunday.

According to officers, Dixileta was closed from 68th Street to 70th Street for several hours; six homes and 15 apartments in the area were evacuated.

Scottsdale police say they were responding to a domestic violence around 4:30 p.m. A woman called 911 saying she and her son were approaching their carport when her ex-husband confronted them with a long gun.

The two adults argued and the woman took off. That's when police say the man fired shots. At this time it's unclear if he fired at the woman or the home.

Police say moments later the man barricaded himself inside the home. After several hours of negotiations, the man killed himself. His identity hasn't been released.
