McDonald's to start serving all-day breakfast nationwide on Oct. 6

McDonald's plans to offer breakfast items all day at its more than 14,300 U.S. restaurants starting October 6, the company announced Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, the move to all-day breakfast was approved in a vote by franchisees last week and affirmed on Tuesday by a franchisee leadership council.

McDonald's Twitter account cleverly announced the switch to all-day breakfast by responding to customers' requests. The first announcement tweet read "@_johnlee_ You open on 10/6? Asking for a McMuffin. Hoping to do lunch, but available all day. #AllDayBreakfast"

The company also tweeted "@lolacoaster Gonna break, break, break the rules with #AllDayBreakfast starting 10/6" -- And, "@Bogie We see a McMuffin and a Hash Brown in your future. Specifically, on 10/6 and after 10:30am. #AllDayBreakfast"
