Many people wanted to meet these two llamas, so their owners set up a special appearance at Turf Paradise this afternoon, but sadly, it will have to be their last public appearance.
Fans got to meet the llamas at today's camel and ostrich racing event at Turf Paradise today. The llamas themselves weren't racing, just cheering on their camel cousins.
So why are they saying goodbye to the spotlight?
"Apparently someone filed a complaint when the llamas got loose and called the USDA," said Llama owner Karen Freund. "They contacted me and said that we were in violation because we didn't have a license, which I had no idea what they were talking about."
Karen soon learned that showcasing the llamas for therapy and educational purposes requires a permit. The USDA says she would not only need to get a permit for the llamas, but all of the animals on their property, so the owners have sadly decided to call it quits.
