Officers say they were forced to shoot suicidal man

Police responded to a call about a suicidal suspect on Friday near 72nd Avenue and Camelback Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say a man walked out of his home, holding a gun.

Authorities say when the man would not comply with the officers' commands to put that gun down, they were forced to open fire.

The man was shot once and he was rushed to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were hurt.

The man's name has not been released.
