Police identify victim from bus stop shooting

Police have identified the man who was fatally shot at a bus stop near 27th Avenue and Northern late Thursday night.  The suspect remains on the loose.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Justin "New York" Gerena.  A photograph of the victim was released by police on Saturday.  Phoenix Police say Gerena was waiting at a bus stop around 11:15 p.m.

At some point, a suspect began yelling obscenities at three people, including Gerena, who were sitting at the bus stop.  The suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots from across the street.

Two people were hit by gunfire. One man was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second person was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

A third person at the bus stop wasn't injured.

Police say the suspect is only described as a tall, thin black male.
