Police looking for Jeep with front-end damage in deadly hit-and-run

Police are searching for a driver who they say hit and killed a man in Florence.

Officers say on Thursday night, Dan Panessa was walking on the Hunt Highway near the Poston Butte Loop when he was hit by a 1997 or newer Jeep TJ convertible which was traveling westbound.

"The hit and run vehicle would have sustained heavy front-end and passenger-side damage; along with passenger-side windshield damage due to the collision," stated Deanna Aguilere of the Florence Police Department.

Panessa was found dead at the scene and his family is asking anyone with information to come forward.

"If you are out there and you did this, if you could please.. our family's grieving.. this is our brother.. please step forward," said Panessa's sister, Vicki Sharp.
