Police make arrest after death at Tempe Beach Park

 TEMPE, Ariz. (AP/KSAZ) - Police have arrested a suspect after a dead body was found at Tempe Beach Park.

Tempe Police announced on Saturday they have arrested 32-year-old Bruce Paya for the homicide.  Police say Paya got into a fight with the victim, killing him at Tempe Beach Park.  Both the suspect and victim were homeless, and Paya now faces second-degree murder charges.

Detectives with Tempe Police began investigating the incident as a suspicious death on Friday afternoon, after the body was discovered at about 1:00 p.m.  The investigation has closed a portion of the park.

Police say Paya was cooperative with officers when he was taken into custody, and investigators are now interviewing witnesses in this case.
