Police: Suspect arrested in arson cases in downtown Buckeye

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) -- A suspect has been arrested in connection with five trash can fires in downtown Buckeye's historic area, including one that spread and destroyed a thrift store.
Buckeye police say 19-year-old Daniel Joiner has been booked into jail on suspicion of several arson and criminal damages charges.
It was unclear Tuesday if he has a lawyer yet.
Authorities say a fire set Monday night in trash cans outside the thrift store spread inside and ended up destroying the entire building.
They say Joiner told investigators that he took pieces of paper, lit them on fire and tossed them into the containers.

Buckeye police and fire officials say the estimated damage to private and city property is about $100,000.
