He went through the Raising Canes restaurant collecting pieces, and it paid off, now he's $100,000 richer.
Winner winner, chicken dinner! That is what this man has been yelling since he won the big prize, just for peeling game pieces off a Raising Cane's cup.
"Two of my friends that told me dude you come here so much you're going to win that," said Luis Perez, the winner.
To win the grand prize Perez had to collect five game pieces spelling the letters C A N E S and the odds were not in his favor.
"There was one letter E out of 24 million game pieces," said Chief Marketing Officer Justin Micatrotto.
Luis pulled through the drive-thru almost 140 times over a month and a half, and everytime he ordered the same thing; a chicken sandwich meal and a fresh squeezed lemonade.
"Meal after meal, no letter E, until February 15th. Luis peeled his cup at home, and then rushed to wake his sleeping brother.
"I made sure that the first thing he saw when he opened his was was the word CANES, as soon as he opened his eyes he was like no way, I'm like; I know, and he's like; no way," said Perez.
Luis waited weeks for Raising Cane's to confirm his win. What he thought was a free lunch with Justin, turned out to be a surprise party with a $100,000 check.
"Right up until the last minute he's like I'm running a few minutes late, we've got cameras and everybody waiting and we're like gosh, and we had one false alarm that almost came in, so we're just waiting for him to come in," said Micatrotto.
Luis said he was surprisingly calm to hear he'd won, he just knew it would happen. And that $100,000 isn't going to more chicken fingers.
"I just hope to make the most of that money, to multiply it, and just keep it going until maybe I could own my own franchise," said Perez.
This is the 3rd year that Raising Cane's has held the contest, but nobody won in the past two years because nobody found the letter E. Luis said he would absolutely enter the contest again.
