Police now say 58-year-old Mark Howard has been arrested and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Detectives and the SWAT team raided his home a couple days ago and found several disturbing images of young kids on his computer.
Mark Howard worked as a night security guard and his job was to patrol neighborhoods and keep people safe. Now Phoenix Police say they need to keep the community safe from Howard.
Thursday night detectives served a search warrant at Howard's home, in this RV Park, near Cave Creek and Bell Roads, in north phoenix.
"They were passing a lot of tapes and discs and hard drives from the computers and they were bagging everything," says Ed Ritcey, Howard's neighbor. "They had about 35 bags of evidence."
Neighbors Ed and Vivian Ritcey say they've never seen such a large police presence.
"I thought he murdered someone or someone had murdered him," said Vivian Ritcey. "There was a lot of police out here they were lined up from here all the way to the street."
Police say when detectives searched Howard's computer they found several images of children under the age of 10.
Photos showing babies and toddlers being sexually abused were found on Howard's computer, according to police; and Howard even admitted to taking candid pictures of children in his neighborhood. But he denies taking any nude photos of kids.
Howard lives in a retirement community and neighbors say they never saw any kids at the suspect's home. They say he lived alone and rarely socialized.
This case is still under investigation and police are asking anyone with information about howard to come forward.
