Shooting outside Vee Quiva casino; 2 suspects taken into custody

Gila River Police are investigating a shooting outside the Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino in west Phoenix on Friday night near 51st Avenue and Dusty Lane.

The gunfire reportedly happened after guests got in an argument with hotel security. A man pulled out a gun and fired two rounds, but there was no report of any injuries. He jumped into the bed of a pickup truck with two other men and took off.

As police tried to pull the truck over, two of those men jumped out of the vehicle and ran off, but officers detained one of them.

Phoenix Police officers also found the driver of the pickup truck at Sky Harbor Airport later in the evening. He has been identified as David John Miller.

On Monday, authorities stated that they have taken the suspect who fired shots outside the casino into custody.
