Thousands of troops take part in training exercise at Arizona meteorite crater

Arizona's meteorite crater in Winslow, Arizona served as the final training site for the world's largest personnel recovery exercise. Davis-Monthan Air Force base hosted the Angel Thunder exercise this month.

More than 3,000 personnel from all US forces and 11 partner nations were trained in mass casualty/hostage recovery and high angle mountain rescues.

In the final exercise, four simulated patients were lifted out of the crater into an Army Air National Guard helicopter.
