1 dead, 1 injured in Ocala plane crash

Ocala firefighters said one person is dead and another injured after a plane crash Saturday morning.

Firefighters said they were called to the Ocala Airport at 750 SW 60th Avenue around 8:51 a.m., Saturday, for a report of a plane that crashed.

When firefighters arrived at the crash, they found one person dead and another person with severe injuries, officials said.

One person was taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries.

Units from Ocala fire rescue, Marion County fire rescue and Ocala police departments are on scene.  

Firefighters said the plane left from the Ocala International Airport and encountered problems.  The pilot attempted to turn around and land when it crashed.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified and will take over the investigation.
