As if the holidays aren't stressful enough, a new scam is targeting shoppers who use the convenience of the internet to take care of holiday shopping.
Amazon customers are reporting a new email scam that is targeting consumers' personal information.
Here's how it works: The scammer sends an email to a customer that appears to be from Amazon.com stating a recent order cannot be shipped. The email informs the customer that there has been a problem with processing their order and that they will not be able to access their account or place orders with Amazon until they confirm their information.
A link inside the email leads the customer to an Amazon-looking web page to confirm their name, address and credit card information. After the customer enters their information and clicks "save and continue," Amazon's actual website pops up.
Amazon officials said the scam email subject line will say "Your Amazon.com order cannot be shipped" and the "from" line in the email will contain an internet service provider other than "@amazon.com."
Customers should check their recent orders on Amazon's website to see if details match the information received in the email.
