Couple jumps out of Manhattan building

- Two people leapt to their deaths off of a building in Manhattan and landed on the street in front of shocked pedestrians Friday morning.

It happened on 33rd Street in Midtown Manhattan between Park and Madison Avenues.  Police covered the bodies in the street as they investigated.

The couple reportedly jumped to their deaths because they were in a "financial spiral" and were struggling to pay bills.

The NY Post claimed the pair left suicide notes pleading for their kids to be cared for, citing an unnamed law enforcement source.

The couple, reportedly 53 and 50 years old, plunged out of the 9th floor of a 17 story building just before 6 a.m.

An NYPD spokesman told the Post that there was no mention of medical-cost struggles in the notes even though there were initial reports that was the reason for their suicides.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
