ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - The man who died in an accidental shooting at a Roseville dealership has been identified as a former Central Michigan football star and NFL player.
The victim has been identified as Zurlon Tipton, a former standout running back for CMU and NFL free agent by the Wayne County Medical Examiner.
Tipton, 26, played in high school at Sterling Heights Parkway Christian, and spent time with the Indianapolis Colts before being released last year.
The man who accidentally shot himself earlier Tuesday at a Roseville car dealership has died, Roseville Police tell FOX 2.
Police say the customer pulled into a service bay at the dealership around 9:30 a.m., and went to take a duffel bag out of his trunk. The duffel bag had two guns inside, police say, and one of the guns accidentally went off and Tipton was struck in the stomach.
Police expected him to be okay, as he was speaking with people at the time he was transported to the hospital.
The shooting happened at Mike Riehl's Roseville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealership on Gratiot Avenue just south of Frazho Road. No one else was injured in the shooting.
