Central Park Winter Jam canceled due to snow

An event billed as NYC's Ultimate Snow Day is being canceled because of... snow.

The Winter Jam was scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Central Park. Crews had spent four days making man-made snow for the event but a real storm is targeting the city.

The event was canceled on Thursday because of "an active blizzard watch and citywide hazardous travel advisory notice." The National Weather Service upgraded it to a Blizzard Warning on Friday morning.

The event was supposed to be a chance for New Yorkers to try out winter sports from snowshoeing, sledding and snowboarding.

The event was not rescheduled.

New York City was under a Blizzard Warning starting at 4 a.m. Saturday running until noon on Sunday. Some estimates show the city could get up to a foot of snow.
