Deputies called to gator in a bar in Safety Harbor

Deputies were called in to remove a feisty four-legged "customer" from the Harbor Bar in Safety Harbor Sunday afternoon.

Roger Grimes, Jr., who caught the whole incident on camera, said he spotted someone taking a picture of something on the sidewalk outside and saw that it was a small alligator." I looked down and saw the cute little thing," Grimes told FOX 13.

The alligator was just a few feet from the door, so Grimes said he went back inside and told the bartender about it.

When the bartender went to the door and peeked out, the alligator "sauntered in," said Grimes.

The bartender called 911 not knowing what to do, said Grimes, and two Pinellas County deputies arrived to remove the gator. One of the deputies had a lasso pole to wrangle the little gator, which had run and hid in a dark corner.

The deputies were seen trying to snag the gator, and then once it was caught, the deputy walked the gator out the door, stopping for patrons to take pictures along the way.

There's no word yet on where the gator was taken. Deputies said the alligator was about 18 inches long and not aggressive.
