Eastbound I-10 re-opens after several accidents

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has re-opened the Eastbound lanes of I-10 at the 101, It was closed for hours after several accidents on the Eastbound lanes, including at least one fatal.

DPS said a serious-injury crash happened at 83rd Avenue early Friday morning. According to DPS, a woman driving a Dodge Charger rear ended a van. The impact was so hard that the Charger slid more than 70 feet and landed on its roof. The driver of the Dodge is in serious condition. The driver of the white van did not sustain major injuries. Officials believe alcohol and speed were a factor in the crash.

Another accident closed the 35th Avenue west-bound off ramp. At least one person was killed in that accident when a car hit a tree.

And in a third accident, DPS is investigating a roll-over on the I-10 west-bound to I-17 north-bound ramp.
