FBI needs help identifying man seen in video

The FBI identified him as "John Doe 40," but investigators are eager to find out his real name. Agents said he may have critical information of an ongoing sexual exploitation investigation.

"John Doe 40," who was first seen in a video with a child, was first noticed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in October of 2017. Investigators believe the video was produced sometime prior.

The FBI described "John Doe 40" as being a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, heavyset, with and dark-colored hair. He was heard in the video speaking English.

The subject is being sought as part of the FBI's Operation Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program initiatives, which partners the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The FBI reiterated there are no current charges against "John Doe 40."
