A judge has sentenced a former Hall County daycare worker to 20 years in prison, with eight to serve, after little boy suffered severe burns at the facility.

A jury found Eddye Pittmon guilty of felony cruelty to children and lesser offenses including battery.

Damon Gaddis, who was 18-month-old at the time, was burned at Discovering Basics Day Care Center in Hall County last year.

At first, the toddler's parents were told the burns were just bug bites.

The daycare has since closed.
