Friends, family search for answers in disappearance of Cartersville woman

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - Loved ones went door to door handing out flyers Sunday afternoon in an effort to gather clues about the disappearance of a Cartersville mother of three.

No one has seen or heard from Heather McDonald, 27, since September 18. She told family that she was staying with a friend, but her abandoned rental car was found in the parking lot of the Courtesy Inn off Highway 411 last Sunday.

"The circumstances were kind of sketchy," said Josh Proctor, McDonald's cousin. "The door was still cracked, keys laying on the ground, all of her personal belongings still in the vehicle."

Volunteers spread out to reach as many people as possible. They concentrated their efforts on the Courtesy Inn and other nearby motels.

"We definitely suspect that somebody out there knows either where her person or her remains are at this point and we're just--we're hoping to find her. That's what we want to do," Proctor explained.

McDonald is the mother of three daughters, Olivia, 6, Molly, 2, and Nova, 1.

"She would never leave these girls for a week," said McDonald's husband, Stefan McDonald. "She was on her phone all the time and her phone's not been turned on. She's not been on her Facebook."

McDonald is described as 5'2" tall, weighing 100 pounds with brown eyes and brown, wavy hair.

Anyone with information on McDonald's whereabouts should call the Cartersville Police Department.
