Georgia man who drove body to Virginia and back gets life

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) -- A Georgia man who drove his dead wife's body to Virginia and back will spend the rest of his life in prison for her murder.

DeKalb County prosecutors say a jury Thursday convicted Dennis Allaben in the death of his wife, Maureen. A judge sentenced him to serve life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors say Allaben put an ether-soaked rag over his wife's face and strangled her in January 2010.

They say he wrapped her body in a blanket, sealed it with duct tape and put it in the back of his truck and drove to Virginia to drop his two children off with relatives. He then drove back to Georgia with her frozen body still in the truck and turned himself in to police.
