The Whitfield County deputy who was behind the wheel of a patrol car transporting inmates which crashed into a trailer Monday morning will not face charges. The crash caused the car to burst into flames.

GSP Troopers said Deputy Rosalia Pacheco-Hernandez, 23, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling east on Highway 52 in Hall County and crashed into a toy hauler camper that a Dodge truck was pulling.

The camper overturned during the wreck and the patrol car went up in flames.

Authorities said medics rushed the deputy and two inmates, identified as Amanda Nicole Townsend, 33, of Tunnel Hill, and Hillary Marie Mchan, 30, of Dalton, to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The driver of the truck, identified as Steven Lawrence Gallo, 57, and his passenger, Renee Therese Gallo, 57, both of Lakeworth, Fla., were not injured.

Troopers said no charges will be filed, but the deputy will receive a traffic citation.
