HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The Houston City Council has approved the use of body cameras for Houston Police Department officers following a vote on Wednesday.
Voted against the HPD body camera contract. I support cameras, but there are too many questions, & no public hearings held in District A— Brenda Stardig (@BrendaStardig) November 18, 2015
The cameras will be manufactured by WatchGuard Video, a company that touts itself as "the world’s largest manufacturer of law enforcement video systems, supplying in-car and wearable video solutions to nearly 1/3rd of all Law Enforcement agencies in the U.S. and Canada." The company's production facility is located in the north Texas city of Allen.
