Lt. Governor Patrick commends the passage of Senate Bill 6

The Texas Senate voted to tentatively pass Senate Bill 6 (SB6), commonly known as the bathroom bill.

The bathroom bill or "Texas Privacy Act" requires all Texas residents to use the bathroom or locker room according to the gender on their birth certificates and prohibits local governments from passing ordinances designed to protect gay rights in public restrooms and other "intimate settings."

Lt. Governor Patrick issued this statement today following the passage of Senate Bill 6, the Texas Privacy Act, by Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R - Brenham):

The Senate will follow up with a final vote expected this week. Then it would move to the House.
