Man Sentenced to Life in Beating Death of Gay Man

A guilty plea was entered Friday in the case of a man accused of beating and killing a gay man as part of a gang initiation.

Darrius Aderhold pleaded guilty to killing Robert Ross in 2012. Prosecutors believe Aderhold and two other men lured Ross into a DeKalb County motel room. That's where Ross was beaten so badly that his skull was fractured and almost every bone in his face was broken.

One of Ross' sisters read a statement from his mother recounting the moment she found out that her son had been killed.

The judge sentenced Aderhold to life in prison plus 25 years.

The other men have already pleaded guilty and received life sentences.
