Missing Gilbert teen found

A missing Gilbert teen was found safe on Wednesday morning. The 16-year-old disappeared earlier this week.

The boy's family called Gilbert police just before 6:30 a.m. saying Zack called them from the Sheraton at Wild Horse Pass and they picked him up.

Gilbert Police classified the case as a runaway, but family members were worried because the teen didn't take any money, clothes, or his cell phone with him when he left the house.

Dean Reeves, Zack's father, says there was no indication that Zack would take off without telling anyone. They saw him on Sunday night, and the next morning he was gone.

"Checked his room at 10:30, he's gone, we believe he left sometime between midnight to 8 a.m.," said Dean.

Family and friends met Tuesday afternoon to embark on a community search effort. They made t-shirts with Zack's picture and information and passed out flyers at homes and businesses in the neighborhood.

The family moved to Gilbert three years ago from Central California. School resource officers worked on the missing persons case because he didn't show up to his first day of school at Perry High.
