Mom: 'Stupid' for cops to arrest me for leaving son in hot car at Walmart

A Florida mother says it was "stupid" that she was arrested for leaving her child in a hot car while she ran in to Walmart on Sunday.

Talisha Martin explained in a Facebook rant that she went in to the store in the city of Palatka to buy a pack of toilet paper. She admitted that she left her five-year-old son in the running car with the windows up and the air on.

When she returned, she discovered that bystanders had alerted sheriff's deputies who took her to Putnam County Jail for leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle.

In a Facebook post, the Palatka Police Department wrote that officers responded to reports of the child in the hot car and saw that the air conditioner was blowing warm air. They revealed that the child said he was scared and hot, so they took him into the store.
