On-demand service apps employ valley residents to do tasks

We live in a world where almost anything we want is at our fingertips, thanks to technology we can purchase clothes, car, and furniture at the click of a button.

But what about ordering services, someone to clean your house, deliver your groceries? Technology is at it again with "On Demand" style apps growing in popularity, so you never have to leave your couch.

Several apps have expanded their services to the valley offering everything from an on-demand handyman to assemble your desk, to someone to pick up dog food and deliver it to your home. These apps cut down your to-do list and also employee Valley talent looking for some extra cash.

The baby's out of diapers, and you can't leave the house. Thanks to on-demand service apps, you don't have to.

On-demand services are designed to help you cross off those to-do list sand help you focus on those more important things that you want to do in life such as spend more time on your business or on your family.

Tishin Donkersley, Editor in Chief at AZ Tech Beat says there are dozens of apps that put others to work for you. One of her favorites is TaskRabbit.

"You can order essentially a repair person, or somebody that can help you organize things in your house, assemble furniture," said Tishin Donkersley.

FOX 10 searched for someone to hang pictures, we entered a task, date, and location and selected the tasker "Steven Beach."

Beach works full time as a pricing analyst but picks up TaskRabbit gigs about ten times a month.

"I just do this on nights and weekends for supplemental income, and I just kind of enjoying helping people," said Steven Beach.

As he leveled and hammered, FOX 10 checked out Homejoy, it's an app that lets you hire someone to clean any or even every part of your house.

And there is PostMates, an app that delivers everything from take-out, to Tylenol, and treats for your pets.

"You could have three drivers come to your house at one time, but you will get those things in under an hour," said Donkersley.

All these apps fully screen candidates before they can perform any tasks. Services are charged at a varying hourly rate depending on the task, and similar to Yelp, you can leave feedback about how well you though the task was performed.
