Suspects charged with murder of woman, 3-year-old appear in court

The three people arrested and charged in the killings of a woman and a 3-year-old in Shelby were in court Monday.

Aubre Sucato, 22, Mario Wilson 27, and Morris Antonio Abraham, 30, are charged with two counts of first degree murder, one count of attempted murder and attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. The judge set their next court date for November 22 and started the process of appointing attorneys for the three suspects Monday.

The chief said the suspects were trying to steal marijuana from the man who was shot. The 3-year-old and the woman were killed over marijuana, the chief said.

On October 27, officers were called to a home in the 600 block of Whisnant Street about a shooting. When police arrived on scene the said they found Liam Murray, 3, and Miranda Woods, 22, dead with gunshot wounds.

A male victim, who has been identified as Jerroid Shippy, 31, Woods' boyfriend, was taken to Carolinas Healthcare System Cleveland for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The police chief made it clear these killings were not random. He said there were no signs that someone broke into the house, so whoever did this likely knew the families.

Investigators said they've been called to the home in the past, but they're still looking into what those calls were all about and how many they have had.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Shelby Police Department.
