Rat snake gives surprise welcome to new Texas homeowner

A new resident to a Texas neighborhood wasn't too thrilled about a slithery welcome wagon, in the form of a rat snake.

Firefighters in Morgan's Point Resort helped removed the reptile on behalf of the frightened homeowner after the snake was spotted wrapped around the front door decoration.

Officials carefully untangled the snake away from the door, packed it into a U-Haul box, and relocated it.

The agency shared images of the encounter on its Facebook page writing, "This Texas Rat Snake was pretty happy with his new digs, but while he didn't have to go home, he couldn't stay here."

According to Live Science, rat snakes are non-venomous and are found throughout North America.
