Microsoft has issued a clarification over the future of a classic art app that can be found on its computer for decades.
According to a blog post made on Microsoft Windows' official website, the company said MS Paint is here to stay, and that it will have a new home in the Windows Store, where it will be offered as a free app.
Confusion emerged on Monday over a listing of MS Paint on a future update for Windows 10. On its support page for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft listed MS Paint as a "deprecated feature", meaning it is no longer in active development, and may be removed in future updates.
Paint is a free Microsoft app that has been featured in the operating system since Windows 1.0 in 1985, with various redesigns over the years.
