Twin Cities homes renting for up to $200,000 for 2016 Ryder Cup

CHASKA, Minn. (KMSP) - The asking price for those renting out their homes in the Twin Cities west metro for the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine reaches up to $200,000. And though it's still a year away, these houses are going fast.

One family of six is putting their Chanhassen, Minn. home on the rental market for a week during the Ryder Cup. Life has been crazy since the Wallis's welcomed triplets into the world, but nothing could be crazier than welcoming strangers to live in your home.

"There's definitely a squirmy part of this, but we're going to buy new linens and buy fresh pillows and put mattress covers on," Jaimie Wallis said.

Wallis is asking for $15,000 for the week. That offer includes a chef and shuttle service, with their home only 3 miles away from the course.

"The boys have been wanting to see the ocean and see Disney so we figure this could be one of the only ways we'll get there," Wallis said.

In 2009, when the PGA championship came to town, Hazeltine member Kathy Norton volunteered to find housing for the players.

"I got 75 homes for 70 different players and it was a screaming success and I had an absolute blast," Norton said.

Norton has since become the go-to for 2016 Ryder Cup rentals -- "I've got homes that are two bedroom townhomes all the way to lakeshore estates, legitimate castles."

Those estates will go for up to $200,000, with the least expensive rental around $2,000,

"It's been mostly men, they are going to spend all day at the course and they just want a nice pillow to put their head, grill a steak and smoke a cigar," Norton said.
