Valley man wins a year of free rent

Housing can be expensive, so when you can catch a break on a house or an apartment you take advantage of it as one valley man did.

It's a pretty incredible story, imagine this; free rent at a pretty nice apartment complex for one year, that's exactly what happened to one young man.

"Brought out the big check, everyone came out super excited and still shaking from the craziest experience of my life," said Michael Stopak.

A new place, and all it cost was a drop of his name in a raffle.

"We started this campaign in February at the Phoenix Open, we started taking entries out there, and then carried it through to our communities with an enter to win box so anyone who came and toured had the chance to fill out the form and enter our drawing," said Kim Atkinson with Mark Taylor Residential.

"We were thinking about buying, my girlfriend and I were looking at houses in the area, and still really undecided about what we were going to do, but now it's pretty clear what we're going to do," said Stopak.

Now they've got a new apartment at a brand new property San Sonoma in Tempe. It's right down the street from work for this 23-year-old. He gets a year of free rent, a $15,000 credit on any apartment he chooses.
