Valley school writes 'American Idol' judges, receive special gift as a reply

Season 14 of "American Idol" is turning out to be a special one for some students at Walker Butte School in San Tan Valley.

The class got a very big gift from "American Idol" judge and country music star Keith Urban.

"The assignment, which I gave to the kids, was pick one of the American Idol judges, write them a letter, and ask them who their musical influences were," said Bill Meadows.

"I wrote, 'I like your music, it's pretty awesome, how do you do all the stuff that you do?'," said Jagger Debusk, a student.

"I said, 'I like your music, and I sometimes see you in some movies, if I didn't hear music, life would be boring'," said Emma Moffat.

Their words struck a chord with at least one of the judges. Mr. Meadows and his students were expecting a stack of letters in return, but what they got back was a whole lot more.

They got a letter that read: "Dear Mr. Meadows and class, on behalf of Keith Urban we are pleased to donate two complete guitar packages from his latest edition of Urban Guitars."

That's right, they got two brand new guitars, one electric and one acoustic, both signed by Keith Urban.

"This one says, 'To everyone in Mr. Meadows' class, I thank you and wish you all love, laughter and crazy adventures, to all the cool gang in Mr. Meadows' class, Keith Urban'," said Meadows.

"I was overjoyed, usually idols really don't respond to letters," said Samantha Bustos.

The kids are amazed and star truck by the gift. Mr. Meadows is thrilled about the new learning opportunities.

"If I got to see you in person, I'd give you a big hug," said Meadows.
