Walmart offers grocery pickup option

Do you hate frequent trips to the grocery store? Would you prefer to stay in the car when the wife heads inside, well now you can skip it all together and order online, picking up your groceries hours later?

Frequent trips to the store are common.

"I don't mind going to the grocery store once in a while," said a shopper.

Fun for some, a chore for other. Either way Walmart wants to make it easier, the Super Store launched a grocery pickup program in the Phoenix area.

"It's about making it easy for our customers, convenient, and choice, giving them a choice for how they shop for groceries," said Delia Garcia with Walmart.

Garcia describes the process as simple, you log on, pick your order, and pick it up. Orders placed by 2 a.m. will be ready by 8 a.m. the next day.

"Especially when I was working it would have been a great time," said another shopper.

According to Walmart, just about all the inventory will be displayed online. You can shop for brand or by product, employees will pick out the items you select, if they can't find it, you'll be notified of a possible substitution.

"Good idea, good idea for all the older people like myself," said a shopper.

Right now, the grocery pick up option is available at three valley Walmart's; two in Mesa and one in Chandler. The groceries will actually be loaded right into your trunk and while it might take some getting used to, especially for those who like the grocery store, the convenience of a grocery pickup might be too good to pass up.
