Woman charged in death of her daughter

A Phoenix woman is arrested and charged in the death of her 16-year-old daughter. All of this stems from a crash last week, investigators say it happened because of the woman's irresponsible behavior.

The crash happened on January 4th, the woman Irma Linda Martinez was driving her SUV on I-10 at Cortaro Farms Road when the roll-over crash happened. Her 16-year-old daughter died in the crash and her 18-year-old son was seriously injured.

Arizona DPS officers say Martinez was speeding and lost control of the SUV, it ended up rolling at least 1 1/2 times coming to a rest on its roof. Martinez's son Marco was thrown from the back seat and suffered critical injuries. Her 16-year-old daughter Christlyn was in the front of the SUV wearing her seatbelt. She was taken to University Medical Center in Tucson where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities arrested 38-year-old Irma Martinez last Wednesday after she was released from the hospital. She also suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Investigators believe she was impaired and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. She's been booked into the Pima County jail on charges of second degree murder, aggravated assault, and five counts of endangerment.
