FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Flagstaff city officials are seeking more public input on a proposed ban on plastic bags.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the Flagstaff City Council is inviting residents to comment on a possible bag ban at a meeting Tuesday.
Council members are also considering having the city manager lead a focus group on possible solutions to prevent plastic bag litter.
The group would make a recommendation to the city manager by April 1. The recommendations would then go before the city's Sustainability Commission to Council.
Plastic bag litter has long been a concern for Flagstaff officials.
The commission recently voted 5-2 to endorse a citywide ban on plastic bags at retail stores. Store owners would instead charge customers for paper bags or reusable shopping bags.
